the world numbered 1-48

(Aug 05) Ink on tracing paper and screen print with pins and red cord.

The world's countries were memorised one by one and re-drawn on tracing paper, then cut out and mounted together border to border.

The map was commissioned as part of eugene presents to document the locations and journeys of notebooks around the world. The notebooks were sent to participants along with a text to copy into it over a period of months. The map-making process mirrors the copying out of a single, typed text into everyday handwriting to create an intercepted, alternative interpretation.
