Parallel actions within alternative economies.
‘Table Multiples’ combines three videos in a split-screen layout to suggest that the actions in each one are parallel. In many ways a number of my recent table videos re-enact one another with slight variations, and apart from careful formal decisions, the elements or props in each video are chosen almost at random. ‘Table Multiples’ emphasizes the common concern of the videos by focussing on the similarities in action and movement of each one, thereby backgrounding the meaning of each specific element.
The ‘Blackbird’s Whistle’ installation pursues this approach by setting up a similar parallel relationship between videos.
