superimposed systems

(Feb 05) 6 images on paper (210 x 295mm; pencil on paper and black & white or colour print) each overlaid with tracing paper marked with specific points in ink.
Points collected from the W5 project and the Milton Keynes Pen Project maps, along with points taken from a self-portrait, plotted onto one another's images of provenance.

These pieces reflect my fascination with imposing systems upon one another. I have combined the data resulting from a series of projects and plotted them all, in a common medium (in this case, points on a flat plane), into new spaces so as to assign new meaning to all of the systems. Arbitrariness plays a big part in the pieces, not only because of the arbitrary collection of data in each individual project, but also as the scale of maps and drawing are fortuitous and yet determine the interplay between one another.
