Between 11th August and 8th September 2012 Joanna Loveday and Charlotte A Morgan were in residence at Site Gallery, Sheffield as part of print it. The residency created a space in which to produce and commission new work, host a series of events exploring some of the ideas and concerns central to COPY, the contemporary and historical practices it engages with and the context within which it operates, and produce a new COPY publication.
The programme formed a dialogue with the broad selection of writing, publishing and print practices presented at print it, in both the pop-up artist bookshop featuring publications produced by artists, writers and poets from the UK, Europe and the US, and the exhibition of works by Coracle Press made between 1989 and 2012.
Exploring forms, processes, structures and concerns within contemporary art writing and publishing, Papers, Fictions, Scripts & Circles combines a series of themed discussions (all audio recordings here), four artist print editions and an accompanying publication with contributions from artists, writers and publishers contributing to the discussion programme.
Contributors: Daniel Fogarty, Louisa Martin, Ami Clarke, Fay Nicolson and Oliver Smith, Simon Cutts and Erica Van Horn (Coracle), Lynn Harris (AND publishing), David Osbaldeston, RGAP, Jamie Crewe, Jennifer Hodgson, Tamarin Norwood, Alun Rowlands, David Berridge, Rachel Lois Clapham, Ami Clarke, Patrick Coyle, Emma Cocker, Kit Hammonds, Simon Lewandowski and Francis Mckee.
Fictions is the second of three panel discussions convened during the residency. Here Jamie Crewe, Jennifer Hodgson, Tamarin Norwood and Alun Rowlands explore the use and slipperiness of fiction and narrative in art and performance practices and their relation to experimental literature. It took place at Site Gallery on Saturday 11 August 2012.
