Video with two texts: one as voice-over and one as subtitles.
The amorphous fluttering shapes and dislocated narratives of overlayed footage produce a linear narrative that resists reading. The visual part of the video reflects the textual element in two ways. First, as the subtitles and voice-over do not ‘agree’, they set up a tension by which each text is unreadable just like the inconclusive and interrupted visual images. Second, and most importantly, each text emphasises the importance of incoherence as a structuring principle of thought, and this is reflected in the incoherence of the visual images.
