This video and the one that follows are intuitive pieces which are more immediately informed by everyday experience. I made both of them during a visit to Australia to visit my grandmother, which gave me a distance from my usual practice that I found liberating. I return to this intuitive approach later on in my envelope constructions video.

The kalgoorlie video was shot over the course of a three-day train journey from the west coast to the east coast of Australia. I found that almost all of my footage was of myself and of the inside of the carriage, rather than of the landscapes through the window.
