Twelve maps were drawn by members of the public in response to my requests for directions from Highgate Cemetery to Archway Clocktower and vice versa.
The maps indicate how individuals interpret their shared common space in very different ways, using routes and adopting different points as landmarks. Exhibited in a public space, these hurried sketches become permanent residues of past conversations: the maps now stand alone stripped of the accompanying gestures and explanations and instantly fade into unusable relics.
