390 bus route

(Jan 05) 36 digital photographs (4" x 6") in book with labels in ink.

A photograph was taken at every stop on the 390 bus route from Archway to King's Cross, detailing the pavement, adjacent wall and bus stop sign. The photographs are presented in book form, arranged by subject matter rather than location.

The sections of pavement and wall are selected not through any intrinsic value of their own (such as constituting the door of and off-licence or the paving slabs around a manhole cover) but rather according to their incidental position within the structure of a local bus route. The book format dictates the order in which the images are divulged, and I have positioned the photographs not according to their locations but rather the subject matter: 12 unrelated sections of pavement followed by 12 unrelated sections of wall and finally, by way of an explanation, the 12 bus stops.
